Self-Improvement

I am a student of self-improvement. It is a path to being a better version of myself. I wake up to each new day and strive to be a better husband, father, brother, friend, leader, and community servant.

Why do I need to be a better version of myself? It is a fundamental human need and a recipe for happiness and balance. Some say that happiness is overrated. Pursuing happiness tethered with a balanced lifestyle allows me to appreciate and live life to the fullest.

Life is a gift. Each day we can recognize how blessed we are to wake up and have the opportunity to do and be better. And if we have health, family, friends, community, and financial stability, how lucky are we?

I complained I had no shoes until I saw a man with no feet. Things could always be a lot worse, right? I would never trivialize my hardships, but this perspective makes me all the more grateful for the life I cultivate today.

Life does not happen to me; it happens for me. I welcome it like a kid given an ice cream sundae whenever I can embrace life’s difficulties like a best friend with some deep value that will elevate me.

I know life can be challenging. But I will have fulfilled my purpose if I strive to improve myself constantly. As the saying goes, “You are no good to anybody unless you are good to yourself.” I need to take care of myself mentally, emotionally, and physically if I am to serve best those I value most.
